Trentemoult's slipway enlarged and renovated: 15 m wide, 55 m long
IllustrationRenovated and enlarged, the Trentemoult slipway has been operational since late September 2025. Doubled in width and lengthened, it is now 15 metres wide and 55 metres long, with lighting added. “Before, we could only take two sail-and-oar boats out or in at the same time. Now five boats can set off on the Loire at any hour, without waiting for half-tide or high tide,” explains Yvon Kerhervé, president of the Sèvre et Loire sailing centre. Discussed during the 2016 great debate on the Loire, the works were funded by Nantes Métropole and required compensatory measures for two protected plants.

No Regatta in 2025: works on the slipway ran late
You will have to wait until next year to see sail-and-oar boats, zefs, sea yoles and other boats sailing off Trentemoult. The Regatta, due to take place in mid-September 2025, was cancelled. The reason: works on the Trentemoult port slipway, delayed by Loire floods. Once finished, the wider slipway will allow several boats to be launched or hauled out safely. Rezé Mensuel promised to meet again the following year to enjoy the nautical show and the entertainment, once the work was done.

Summer 2025: Saint-Jean bonfire in Trentemoult and Agités d'la cale on the Haute-Île
IllustrationAmong the summer 2025 events noted by Rezé Mensuel: the Saint-Jean bonfire, on Saturday 28 June at 7 pm, a popular festival organised by Trentemoult's tourist-office association, with, around 10:15 pm, the burning of a large pallet structure by the blacksmiths of the association Fer, then a dance until 1 am, with bar and food on site. On Saturday 5 July, the festival Agités d'la cale invited people to take seats at the long tables of the quai de l'Échouage, on the Haute-Île, with opera, DJ set and song, a thrift market from 11 am, music workshops for children, an oyster bar and food trucks.

Débord de Loire 2025: the great nautical parade passes in front of Trentemoult
IllustrationDébord de Loire returned for a 4th edition from 12 to 18 June 2025, from Saint-Brevin-les-Pins to Mauves-sur-Loire, via Rezé. The highlight was the great nautical parade on Saturday 14 June, with much-awaited boats such as the Belem, the three-master built in Nantes, and L'Étoile du Roy, a replica of a British frigate seen in “The Count of Monte Cristo”. The Trentemoult quays offered a prime view at the end of the day. Ashore: a batucada from the municipal music school from 6:15 pm, a B6K concert at 7:30 pm, then a DJ set by the association À mi-marée. On 15 June the City organised a nature walk along the Loire.

Electric catamarans on the Loire: five navibus from 2027
IllustrationThe end of diesel navibus has come. From 2027, Nantes Métropole will acquire and gradually deploy five electric catamaran-type navibus, serving in particular the routes from Trentemoult. They will carry 150 passengers, against about a hundred today, as well as bicycles. Their engines will be electric, recharged during stops, with a thermal range extender to take over if sailing conditions require. The Métropole funds the purchase of the boats and the quayside adaptations. A new river link to Bas-Chantenay is announced from September 2025.

IllustrationNot yet built, but already named! The first ten public streets on the former slaughterhouse site, in the Les Isles development zone, now have their names. From 21 November to 21 December 2024, more than 300 Rezé residents voted. Four names of notable women were chosen: Jeanne de Belleville, Rachel Carson, Harriet Tubman and Victoria Drummond. Six common names tied to the history of the place came out on top: Les civelles, Les cap-hornières, Angélique des estuaires, Les bargers (fishermen of the Isles), Le Courtil-Brisset (the stream that once flowed in Trentemoult) and Les pibaliers. The first buildings are due in late 2027.

“Femmes de Loire”: eighteen portraits along the water by Edmond Guibert
IllustrationEdmond Guibert's latest book, “Femmes de Loire”, gathers eighteen women from varied backgrounds who share a strong bond with the river: a naval officer, a navibus captain, a storyteller… Each portrait pairs a photo or painting chosen from the author's vast documentary collection with a text more affectionate and poetic than his earlier technical books. In all there are “really 20 women” in the book, counting Frédérique Lamy, who wrote the preface, and Isabelle Cahier, who posed for the cover. Published by Victor Stanne and in bookshops at €30, it was featured in Rezé Mensuel in October 2024.

The programme included local bands on Friday, national and international guests on Saturday and Sunday, children's bands on Sunday afternoon, band “battles” and a flash mob, about forty 45-minute concerts in all. The biennial festival had drawn 25,000 visitors in 2022.

IllustrationOn Sunday 15 September 2024, from 11 am to 6 pm, the Trentemoult Regatta hoisted its sails again for its 131st edition, run by the Sèvre et Loire sailing centre, on land and on the water. From the port quays you could watch sail-and-oar boats, Zef dinghies, cabin boats and sea rowing boats. The “Vétille”, a historic sailboat listed as maritime heritage, took part, as did the inter-association challenge Objectif Loire, where six crews competed. On shore, place des Filets, there were accrovoile climbing, a knot-tying workshop, a concert by steel-drum band Calyps' Atlantic and food.

2nd Trentemoult Book Fair: some fifty local authors
IllustrationOn 18 and 19 May 2024, the second Trentemoult Book Fair invited readers to discover the output of local authors and publishers: no fewer than 55 authors to meet, publishers, a storytelling screening, a poetry reading, a children's workshop on “making a book from A to Z” and a Japanese bookbinding workshop. Initiated in 2023 by Éric Perraud of the association Îles'liens, it was run this year by the Maison des utopies magnifiques, the association of Nantes novelists and Rezé Histoire, with the Loire-et-Seil community centre. About 550 visitors came the previous year.

Anne-de-Bretagne bridge closed to cars: navibus N1 stepped up
IllustrationFrom late April 2024 to May 2025, the Anne-de-Bretagne bridge and boulevard Léon-Bureau are closed to vehicles in both directions, with only pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services allowed through, as part of the works linked to the arrival of the tram. To help Rezé residents, including those of Trentemoult, get around, Nantes Métropole planned measures: crossings doubled on navibus N1, with a boat every ten minutes and service extended to 9 pm, stronger frequency on several transit lines, a free one-month trial of the Naolib network and extra electric bikes for long-term rental.

“In the wake of Marie-Thérèse”: a tribute to a quayside figure and painter Yves Marion
IllustrationBorn in 1933 “at the far end of Finistère”, Marie-Thérèse Le Moal worked as a schoolteacher, notably on the island of Sein in 1961, with her husband, the painter Yves Marion. The couple settled in 1989 on the Haute-Île, then in 1998 the painter found his dream studio on the Trentemoult quay; she stayed there after his death in 2007. A familiar figure for her walks along the quay and her Tuesday-morning meetings at the Café du port, she is moving back to Douarnenez after thirty-five years in the neighbourhood. Neighbours and friends paid tribute to her on 16 and 17 March 2024, from 11 am to 5 pm, with Yves Marion's works shown in private homes.

Malakio: design comes out of its shell on the Haute-Île
IllustrationAfter the festive season, mountains of oyster, scallop and mussel shells are thrown away: 250,000 tonnes a year in France. In 2020, Morgan Guyader, a graduate of the École de design Nantes Atlantique, imagined turning them into a material: 60% crushed shells, stone and a little glue. His company Malakio, created with childhood friend Hugo Kermarrec, moved in late 2022 to a 320 m² workshop on the Haute-Île. There it handcrafts coasters, trays, candle holders and mirrors, without firing and with little water. Restaurants, including the starred Les Cadets in Nantes, appreciate the sustainable design.

“Ici commence la Loire”: nine ground markers against drain pollution in Trentemoult
Did you know that cigarette butts or wipes thrown on the road near storm-drain grilles end up in waterways, which carry them to the ocean? To raise awareness, Nantes Métropole created ground signage placed beside the drains. Nine markers stamped “Ici commence la Loire” (“The Loire starts here”) have been installed in Trentemoult. The same issue of Rezé Mensuel (January 2024) also featured the woodworking workshop of the Loire-et-Seil community centre, where eleven teenagers aged 11 to 18 learn, one Saturday a month, to build furniture such as garden furniture from pallet wood.

Maze Brasserie: Fanny Delhommeau brews her beers in Les Isles
IllustrationCould the Isles district be Rezé's beer stronghold? It is where the craft brewery Nautile was born in 2017, now on rue du Seil, and where Fanny Delhommeau created her micro-brewery Maze, at 2 bis rue Codet. Though not certified organic, she uses ingredients from organic farming and even grows hops in her mother's garden in Rezé. The “Maze touch”: beers with small bubbles, raw ingredients and little sugar. She produces 300 to 400 litres a month, sold locally, and handles bottling, labels and the deposit scheme herself. Excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to health.

Illustration“At Saint Catherine's, every wood takes root.” On 25 November 2023 and the following days, Rezé's municipal gardeners planted fruit trees in the Parc de la Grève, in Trentemoult, with the three residents who won the Neighbourhood Envelopes. The “Communs fruits” orchard project had gathered 223 votes. According to Rezé Mensuel of February 2024, two apple trees, three plum trees, a peach and a pear were planted that Saturday, with help from elected officials and Trentemoult residents, then eight more fruit trees on 18 January 2024. Until the harvest can be shared, neighbourhood residents can watch the trees grow.

The Trentemoult Regatta returns to port on 24 September 2023
IllustrationAfter a three-year break, the Trentemoult Regatta, run by the Sèvre et Loire sailing centre, returned on Sunday 24 September 2023. Rezé Mensuel did not promise famous three-masters, but gallant sail-and-oar boats and their crews, for a fine show in the Trentemoult roadstead. The programme combined nautical activity on the Loire with a popular festival on shore, with entertainment for children and their parents on place des Filets, from 11 am to 6 pm, plus a bar and food on site.

Organised by a collective of associations, cultural venues and “lovers of the sea, the river and the land”, it offered a river-and-sea voyage mixing storytelling, theatre, concerts, workshops, exhibitions, talks, short films and a film-concert, against a backdrop of sea spray, foam and the Loire tide, with activities on ecology in the nautical world.

Débord de Loire 2023: the Belem and two other three-masters, seen from Trentemoult
IllustrationFrom 30 May to 5 June 2023, Débord de Loire gathered some 200 boats, including the famous Belem. On 3 June the Nantes three-master set out alongside the Oosterschelde, a Dutch schooner from 1918, and Le Français, the ex-Kaskelot built in Denmark in 1948, for a parade on the Loire from Saint-Brevin-les-Pins to Nantes. It was a sight to watch from the Trentemoult quays or the Cale Aubin garden. The village lived to the rhythm of boats and music all weekend: Brazilian dance workshops, a batucada, a hip-hop dance show, a folk ball, a percussion concert and women's singing. A bike parade also followed the boats along the estuary.

IllustrationDead calm for the 2022 Regatta: facing a steep extra cost for renting pontoons, the Sèvre-et-Loire sailing centre gave up the traditional race. It kept activities going on 16, 17 and 18 September: a talk on the history of the Trentemoult regattas on Friday evening, with writer François Puget, a specialist in Loire navigation, and the Amis de Rezé; a retrospective exhibition on regattas and leisure sailing on the Loire; and the Objectif Loire outing, with seven association crews. The first green milestone of the future river park of the Pirmil-les Isles development, which will eventually stretch 600 metres to the Trois-Continents bridge, it offers a view of the Loire, the Île de Nantes and the Sainte-Anne hill. When cargo ships “swing” in front of Trentemoult: a book on the giants' U-turn
IllustrationAbout a hundred times a year, in front of the port of Trentemoult, large cargo ships 90 to 225 metres long turn around in the roadstead in barely fifteen minutes, helped by Loire pilots and tugboats: this is the “évitage”. Three residents, Edmond Guibert, Éric Perraud and Philippe Michel, who have photographed the manoeuvre for more than forty, twenty and ten years respectively, produced the book “Évitage à Trentemoult-les-Isles”, published in November 2021 by Victor Stanne (€20). The ships come to load grain at the Roche-Maurice terminal, the second on the west coast. Presented as a travel notebook, the book explains the manoeuvre, the variety of ships and their flags.

In the same district, the Tiers Lieu Productif (TLP), recently created by the Rezé start-up Nielsen Concept, is dedicated to sustainable-city businesses and offers, over three levels, varied spaces and even a garden to work in when the weather is fine. Rates, by the hour, day or month, range from 25 euros a day to 300 euros a month for an office, according to Rezé Mensuel.

Two sites are involved: Trentemoult, near the Maison des Isles, and the Château district, around the Paul-Allain park and the skatepark. Sorting devices will be tested there in spring 2022. The aim is to check their effectiveness before the anti-waste law for the circular economy (Agec), which requires sorting in public space, takes effect in 2025.

Ateliers Haute-Île: a creative collective of nine artists and craftspeople
IllustrationNine artists and art craftspeople share the Ateliers Haute-Île at 7 rue de l'Île-Macé, in a former warehouse and then metalworker's workshop. The project was started by the Nantes association MilleFeuilles, which put out a call for applications to share the workshop. Settled there since early 2020, they did not know each other: a cabinetmaker who makes lamps, a maker of wooden surfboards, a painter, a jewellery designer, visual artists, sculptors… “We form a small community, we pool materials and tools, we help each other.” Reducing environmental impact and salvaging materials are shared concerns. Two open days, in June and September 2021, let residents discover the place.

“Chroniques de la renverse”: the Loire at kayak height, with Michel Le Brigand
IllustrationIn his book “Chroniques de la renverse”, Trentemoult resident Michel Le Brigand offers his view of the city and the Loire from kayak height. “The renverse is the moment when the tide changes direction,” he says with a smile, adding that he only goes out by kayak at high tide, when conditions allow. Born in Brittany, he has paddled the Loire for twenty years: “twenty years of rituals and routes that settled into this book”. He read extracts at a reading-concert with pianist Liliya Clem on Sunday 19 September 2021 at 11 am at the Maison des Isles, as part of the European Heritage Days.

“À mi-marée”, Loire-Atlantique's first amphibious festival, in the port of Trentemoult
IllustrationA collective of Rezé artists and boaters launched “À mi-marée”, presented as Loire-Atlantique's first amphibious festival: a festival halfway between land and sea, between art and science, celebrating the preservation of ecosystems. Planned in the port of Trentemoult on 10 and 11 September 2021, with activities on land and on the water, it had to scale back that year in order to return stronger in 2022. Two free concerts were scheduled: on Friday, Agua Sonora, a “water-lily orchestra” with a Latin American repertoire, performed on the water; on Saturday, a session of traditional Irish music.

Moult comestibles: gardening goes hand in hand with sharing in Trentemoult
IllustrationA former kitchen garden and orchard is coming back to life in Trentemoult with the association Moult comestibles, which brings together about twenty gardening enthusiasts. Neighbours who met while gardening since 2018 in the flowerbeds of the Maison des Isles, they were drawn closer by the first lockdown and the small plot became too tight. In March 2021 the City made available a former walled orchard of 1,300 m², after cleaning, decontamination, fencing, a shed and a water point. The collective comes first: decisions are made collectively and newcomers are welcome, on Thursdays from 6:30 pm and Sundays from 5 pm, rue Viau.

A free connected bike shelter on the port of Trentemoult
IllustrationTurning a shipping container into a connected bike garage: the idea came from the Rezé company Nielsen Concept. This “bike hut” stands on the quai Surcouf in Trentemoult. Cyclists can leave their bike there 24/7, re-inflate tyres, recharge a battery and even repair their bike with the tools provided. The 11 spaces can be booked by the day through the mobile app mobypod.app and the facility is free to use for one year. The City sees it as a measure to make cycling easier and cut CO₂ emissions; other shelters are being installed elsewhere.

Trentemoult stays watchful about its quality of life as summer approaches
At a public meeting held in June 2021, Trentemoult residents reminded elected officials of their concerns: parking, traffic, upkeep of the quays and terraces spilling onto public space. Seven restaurants now line the quai Marcel-Boissard and, with summer and the navibus link, the terraces are likely to be packed. Some residents complain that certain businesses overflow the space allotted to them and take over slipways, to the detriment of pedestrians. Mayor Hervé Neau said the City and the Grand port had issued several reminders and that residents, traders and tourists must be able to coexist in Trentemoult.

The Flâneries change seasons: a spring edition in May 2021
IllustrationCancelled in December because of health restrictions, the Trentemoult Flâneries bet on spring 2021 with an open-air edition, announced from Saturday 22 to Monday 24 May. Artists, craftspeople and makers were to exhibit in village houses, preferably in gardens and courtyards depending on the colour of the sky and on health conditions, as well as at the Mékano, the Hangar du Pendule and the Maison des Isles. To find them you had to look for the teddy bears, helped by large maps posted in the district. The organisers, the association Îles'Liens with the Maison des magnifiques utopiques and the association Clés, also planned street entertainment if the situation allowed.

The Mille Bras farm, born from Trentemoult's Scopéli cooperative supermarket
IllustrationAn ecological counterpoint to the “Thousand Cows” farm project, the community farm Mille Bras (“Thousand Arms”) grew out of Scopéli, Trentemoult's cooperative supermarket, so as to grow part of its own local organic vegetables. Launched in January 2020 with the help of a market gardener from Bouguenais who lends a greenhouse and a 1,000 m² plot, the project has already yielded 150 kg of beans and 20 kg of blackcurrants, sold at market price. In 2021, two market gardeners will be hired on land bought by Nantes Métropole. The farm has 150 members and hopes to settle in Rezé, offer training and one day supply canteens and hospitals.

Trentemoult, Norkiouse and the island of “Madagascard”: when Rezé was an archipelago
IllustrationNorth of Rezé, old maps show a small archipelago whose names changed over time: Trentemoult (or Trentemoux), Norkiouse, the Île des Chevaliers… Cut off from the mainland by the Seil, the islands were separated from one another by a watercourse. In 1285, Olive, widow of Mathieu de l'Île, handed lands to the Templars that took the name Île des Chevaliers, with Basse-Île downstream and Haute-Île upstream. A 1698 map calls it the “île de Madagascard”. As the Seil, cut off from the Sèvre as early as the sixth century, gradually dried up, Trentemoult, built on an island of rocky origin, was inhabited from Antiquity, geographer Loïc Ménanteau reminds readers in Rezé Mensuel.

The Petite Californie wastewater plant is to feed the gas network
IllustrationLocated in Trentemoult, the Petite Californie wastewater plant treats the sewage of seven municipalities, equivalent to 180,000 inhabitants. Since 2011 it has been used to produce biomethane, a renewable gas, but only 55% of the biogas was put to use, the rest being burned off. Presented to residents on 8 December 2020, a new system designed with operator Suez was meant to use all of it: from June 2021 the biogas would be injected into the GRDF network, a first in Loire-Atlantique. It would produce 10.7 gigawatt-hours a year, the consumption of 2,140 homes, for an investment of €2.8 million by Nantes Métropole.

Christmas Flâneries 2020: a scaled-back programme, then cancellation
IllustrationIn December 2020, Rezé Mensuel announced Christmas Flâneries for 5 and 6 December in Trentemoult, but “exceptionally, with no street entertainment so as to avoid gatherings”, said organiser Éric Perraud. A tour of 26 venues and about 46 exhibitors was planned, with the event's polar-bear emblem outside each participating venue. The May 2021 issue of the magazine later states that the December edition was cancelled because of health restrictions, which led the organisers to plan a spring edition in 2021. It was a forced parenthesis in the history of one of the village's most anticipated events.

Plombicycle: Anthony Marchand, the cycling plumber of Trentemoult
IllustrationAnthony Marchand is a plumber who travels by bicycle. He works only within five to six kilometres of his home in Trentemoult, which does not stop him from having plenty of customers: “I stand out from my colleagues, it brings goodwill.” After several years working in Montréal in various fields, he returned to his original training and set up six years ago to work in line with his values and independently. The bike forces him to organise differently, as he cannot carry all his equipment, but it means less traffic stress, easier parking and more time outdoors. Rezé Mensuel profiled him in December 2020.

Rezé's elected officials at the Trentemoult–Les Isles market on 28 November
IllustrationIn autumn 2020, Rezé's new city council went out to meet residents in each district in small groups, at markets, school gates or near shops, aboard a “citizen bus”: the youth service's van. For Trentemoult–Les Isles, the meeting was set at the market on Saturday 28 November, from 10 am to noon. The officials discussed the first actions launched, gathered opinions and presented the upcoming citizen-dialogue bodies, such as the neighbourhood council or workshops, with health measures observed. The district's elected representative also held monthly drop-in sessions at the Maison des Isles.

“Bonsoir public chéri”: Joe, la Rosita, tells her street-theatre life
IllustrationJoëlle Legua, who has lived in Trentemoult for about thirty years, has written the story of her life, closely tied to the history of street theatre since the 1970s. She came to Nantes with Royal de Luxe, of which she was a member from the very beginning, and has been an actress, director, author and singer, as “Joe” or as the extravagant singer Rosita. Her book, “Bonsoir public chéri”, came out in late 2019 in 110 copies, handmade with friends (folding, sewing, gluing, binding) and distributed at a pay-what-you-want price. Her daughter Lola, who set up a community print shop, produced the book. A reissue is expected, Rezé Mensuel noted in September 2020.

Gourmet ice creams born of lockdown in Trentemoult
IllustrationDuring the spring 2020 lockdown, Camille Saint-M'Leu, a young cook from Trentemoult, turned his mother's former architecture office into a culinary laboratory. Trained at the Ferrandi school in Paris and then in the pastry kitchen of a two-star restaurant, he came up with original ice creams, described as little gastronomic jewels, rather than “waiting for it to pass”. The Ouest-France article, published on 25 July 2020, tells how a period of constraint became the starting point of a local craft venture in the village. It is a fine example of the spirit of initiative that drives Trentemoult.

The Trentemoult village association puts forward proposals for the “Colas” area
IllustrationIn March 2020 the association Trentemoult village said it was ready to act as a source of proposals on neighbourhood matters, provided Nantes Métropole involved residents in decisions, “so as to avoid reliving a situation like that of the boiler plant”. The subject was the so-called “Colas” area, a plot next to the village. According to the association, residents voiced both concerns, notably about possible nuisance from restaurants or bars or a Transfert-type venue, and ideas for the space. The initiative is part of the dialogue between residents and public authorities that accompanies the village's evolution.

Trentemoult's Mobilypod now produces solar power
IllustrationInaugurated in September 2018 at the entrance of the Roquios car park, on the Trentemoult quay, the secure bike shelter known as the “Mobilypod” has been trialling solar power since early 2020. Public-works company Colas, which invented the solution, installed three photovoltaic slabs in front of the shelter; each produces the energy needed to charge one parked electric bike. Designed by the Rezé start-up Nielsen Concept from a shipping container, the shelter is built by an integration workshop. The City bought two: the Trentemoult one and another near the town hall. Nielsen Concept also offers charging stations for electric scooters.

When Trentemoult shared one of Rezé's three public phone booths
IllustrationThe telephone appeared in France about 140 years ago, yet in 1965 only 2.5 million of 50 million households were listed in the directory. The Amis de Rezé, in their newsletter, leafed through the 1950s directory: seven doctors, five pharmacies, a notary, four hotels… and very few subscribers. For practically all Rezé residents, a telephone was reachable only from three public booths, in Pont-Rousseau, Ragon and Trentemoult, from 8 am to noon and 2 to 6 pm, except on Sundays. Rezé Mensuel retold the story in March 2020, a small look back at an era when you crossed the village to make a call.

Navibus: a second line opens, after 700,000 passengers to Trentemoult in 2019
On 11 February 2020 the new Navibus line N2 was inaugurated between the Hangar à bananes, on the Île de Nantes, and Bas-Chantenay. The boat “Heb Ken”, 20 metres long, carries 140 passengers and ten bicycles; the crossing takes six minutes, with a departure every twenty minutes. The article notes that the first line, between the Gare maritime and Trentemoult, recorded 700,000 passengers in 2019: a success that encouraged the Métropole to develop further river links. N2 also recalls the history of the roquios, the ferrymen who linked the two banks of the Loire until the mid-twentieth century.

6th Christmas Flâneries: more than forty exhibitors in the village
IllustrationFrom Friday 6 to Sunday 8 December 2019, the 6th Christmas Flâneries brought together more than forty exhibitors in some thirty places across Trentemoult: artists who live or work in the district opened their doors to the public. To spot the exhibitors you just had to look for the teddy bears. On Saturday the News Fanfare roamed the streets; on Sunday, country dancing enlivened the village. Hours: Friday 5–8 pm, Saturday 11 am–8 pm, Sunday 11 am–6 pm. It was a way to stroll while choosing original local gifts, long before the tenth edition celebrated in 2023.

Les Magnifiques utopiques, a makers' collective, hold their Christmas market
IllustrationFounded in 2017, the collective Les Magnifiques utopiques brings together more than eighty makers, mostly women who have changed careers. Its charter is clear: no imported products, no stolen images, a real ecological sensitivity. Since March 2019 the collective has had a house in Trentemoult, home to workshops, a sales gallery, a lecture room and a bookshop. Its Christmas market took place on 23 and 24 November 2019 at L'Orphéon, with about fifteen artists and Moroccan specialities to taste. The event was a prelude to the December Flâneries and confirmed the place of makers in the village's identity.

Petite Californie wood boiler: November tests worry some residents
IllustrationIn early November 2019, Erena, which operates the Centre Loire heating network, began testing the new wood boiler at Petite Californie, near Trentemoult. Plumes of smoke were visible in the sky; according to Nantes Métropole this can happen intermittently while the settings are adjusted. On 7 November the chimney released a nuisance of black smoke for about an hour: as a precaution the head of the neighbouring school kept nursery children indoors and alerted the town hall. A residents' group opposed to the project mobilised and the mayor received them. The Métropole spoke of a technical incident and announced that testing would resume no earlier than 26 November.

The Landreau brothers release “Le secret de la civelle”
IllustrationNatives of Trentemoult, Youenn and Fañch Landreau recorded a traditional-music album in autumn 2019. Fañch plays violin and Youenn the Chapman Stick, an unusual stringed instrument of which he is one of the virtuosos. The two brothers have played together for years but had never recorded their duo: it took about two years of preparation and rehearsals. The CD, whose title alludes to the glass eel, the small fish emblematic of the Loire, was designed by graphic artist Nicolas Bocquel and produced by Coop Breizh. It is an album deeply tied to the village, featured in the city's October magazine.

Les Frères Dubois release a CD recorded in Trentemoult
IllustrationJean-François Morange and Nicolas Bocquel are neither brothers nor named Dubois, but that is the name under which they perform. Their intimate show, increasingly theatrical, alternates songs and sketches. In autumn 2019 the duo released a ten-track CD, “Créateurs d'émotions fortes”, recorded in Trentemoult in Youenn Landreau's studio. The booklet is by Nicolas Bocquel, who is also a graphic designer, with a sleeve that has no beginning or end and a two-headed fish. It is one example among others of the village's discreet musical life, where artists and studios share the same lanes.

Trentemoult's quays are to be repaired
IllustrationAt a public meeting at Rezé town hall in late September 2019, Nantes Métropole announced the renovation of Trentemoult's quays. Collapsed steps, slipways overrun with weeds and hollows under the rock armour: the damage had been known since an alert was raised in 2016. The works, funded by the Métropole at about €480,000, were to run from November 2019 to March 2020, in three zones treated one after another from east to west. The room was almost full of attentive residents following the schedule and the details of the site. The port was then dredged, as covered in another news item on this site.

129th Trentemoult Regatta: the river in celebration
IllustrationOn Sunday 22 September 2019, the port of Trentemoult hosted the 129th edition of its Regatta. The programme included races for all types of boats and the inter-association challenge, in which six crews mixing seasoned and beginner sailors competed in “seils”, including a crew of municipal staff and one of firefighters. Activities included rowing events, manoeuvring and slalom tests, children's “accrovoile” climbing on masts, sandpits in dinghies, a miniature-fleet pond and the brass band Le Grandmachinchose. The free event is run by the Sèvre-et-Loire sailing centre. Born in the late nineteenth century, these regattas are a reminder that the village has always kept a close bond with the Loire and with recreational sailing.

World Clean Up Day: residents clean up Trentemoult
IllustrationOn Saturday 21 September 2019, from 10 am to 1 pm, the City of Rezé invited Trentemoult residents to pick up litter in the village streets as part of World Clean Up Day. This worldwide day of citizen clean-up, held every September, mobilises volunteers in dozens of countries. In Rezé the operation was open to everyone and ended with a drink offered to participants. The Château district had its own operation the same day, from 10 am to 12:30 pm. It was a simple way to keep the colourful lanes, the quays and the port area clean, all of which are very busy once the fine weather arrives.

“Le Vagabond”, a sailboat born in Trentemoult in 1973, becomes “Le Ville de Rezé”
On 21 May 2019, the City of Rezé christened “Le Ville de Rezé”, a sailboat that now lives on dry land. Built in Trentemoult in 1973 at the Chantier du port, one of the village's family boatyards, this Mopelia pleasure boat sailed for nearly forty-five years. It had lost its centreboard and was deteriorating when its owner handed it over for a symbolic one euro to the Bathô workshop, which turned it into an unusual dwelling. The christening is a reminder that Trentemoult was also a village of boatbuilders, not only of fishermen and Loire pilots, and that a piece of that know-how lives on in a new form.

La Civelle reopens in Trentemoult after months of rebuilding
IllustrationLa Civelle, a well-known restaurant on the Trentemoult quay, reopened on Thursday 2 May 2019. Its first-floor kitchen had burned down on the night of 16–17 November 2018. After five months of work involving twelve trades, everything was refreshed: the façade was repainted white, the mural of a boat carrying glass eels across the Loire was redone identically by Nantes artist Élodie Lechevallier, and the large upstairs room, the former dance hall, now opens onto the kitchen through a glass roof. The menu still centres on Loire and Atlantic fish delivered by a Rezé fish merchant. The reopening came with three concerts, from Thursday to Saturday.
