A sign painter and illustrator, Jules Maillard hand-paints signs, shop windows, facades and boat hulls from Trentemoult to Camaret and Honfleur, including the large mural on the Café du Port in Trentemoult. His other playground is natural wine: cuvée labels (among them the Damoiselles et Damoiseaux silhouettes for Nantes wine merchant Malo Le Coarer), posters for wine fairs such as Canette, Contrastes and Bras de fer, and the 2025 Beaujolais Nouveau poster for Raisin, a tribute to the hand-painted café notices of old. In pencil, oil or gouache he casts a tender, amused eye on birds, the sea, surfing and everyday life, and he also designs wallpaper collections. In 2026 his four small oils 'Aujourd'hui je regarde la mer' were shown, and sold, at the Jonathan Roze gallery in Rennes.
