In 1990 Jean-Loup Hubert shot La Reine Blanche in the village, with Catherine Deneuve, Jean Carmet, Bernard Giraudeau, Richard Bohringer and a young Isabelle Carré. Residents appeared as extras. Jean Carmet said that on his first night walk he felt the ghost of his character in the lanes; he compared the village to a casbah.
Traces to look for: the “Au Confort Moderne” mosaic on a quay façade (a fake plumbing shop made for the film, now in tiles), the restored quay railing, a Petit LU advertisement, the old sign of the Messagerie de l’Ouest. The film also made the painted façades famous.
