Summer 1990: Trentemoult becomes the set of "La Reine blanche"
Illustration· Centre d'histoire du travail (iconothèque)
In summer 1990 Jean-Loup Hubert shot "La Reine blanche" in Trentemoult with Catherine Deneuve, Richard Bohringer, Bernard Giraudeau and Jean Carmet.
To recreate the 1950s-60s, the crew repainted the quay façades with an aged patina and rebuilt shopfronts. They also brought a roquio and its ticket office back to life.
Sets were built locally in a workshop lent by the town, employing about forty local people.
Traces remain, like the "Confort Moderne" shopfront and its LU biscuit ad. See our History page on La Reine Blanche.
