Electric catamarans on the Loire: five navibus from 2027
Illustration· Rezé Mensuel n°198 (avril 2025), p. 16 — Ville de Rezé
The end of diesel navibus has come. From 2027, Nantes Métropole will acquire and gradually deploy five electric catamaran-type navibus, serving in particular the routes from Trentemoult. They will carry 150 passengers, against about a hundred today, as well as bicycles. Their engines will be electric, recharged during stops, with a thermal range extender to take over if sailing conditions require. The Métropole funds the purchase of the boats and the quayside adaptations. A new river link to Bas-Chantenay is announced from September 2025.
