In early November 2019, Erena, which operates the Centre Loire heating network, began testing the new wood boiler at Petite Californie, near Trentemoult. Plumes of smoke were visible in the sky; according to Nantes Métropole this can happen intermittently while the settings are adjusted. On 7 November the chimney released a nuisance of black smoke for about an hour: as a precaution the head of the neighbouring school kept nursery children indoors and alerted the town hall. A residents' group opposed to the project mobilised and the mayor received them. The Métropole spoke of a technical incident and announced that testing would resume no earlier than 26 November.
