Ateliers Haute-Île: a creative collective of nine artists and craftspeople
Illustration· Rezé Mensuel n°162 (octobre 2021), p. 15 — Ville de Rezé
Nine artists and art craftspeople share the Ateliers Haute-Île at 7 rue de l'Île-Macé, in a former warehouse and then metalworker's workshop. The project was started by the Nantes association MilleFeuilles, which put out a call for applications to share the workshop. Settled there since early 2020, they did not know each other: a cabinetmaker who makes lamps, a maker of wooden surfboards, a painter, a jewellery designer, visual artists, sculptors… “We form a small community, we pool materials and tools, we help each other.” Reducing environmental impact and salvaging materials are shared concerns. Two open days, in June and September 2021, let residents discover the place.
